The Cybuster is one of the four Masou Kishin developed by the Langran Kingdom. Due to its blessing by the Seirei (Holy-rank spirit) of the Wind, Syphis, it is known as the Masoukishin of the Wind. However, "Cybuster" is only the codename of this unit. Like the other Masou Kishin units, its true name has never been revealed in order to protect it against magical attacks. The Cybuster is one of the seventeen units from the Langran Kingdom's Masouki Project, designed by Wendy Rasm Ignart, to combat the revival of the God of Destruction, Sava Volkruss, and its followers. This Masoukishin is one of the fastest units created and is the only one with the ability to transform.
Despite its creation in another dimension, the design specifications of the Cybuster are nearly identical to that of a Personal Trooper, although its power source remains a mystery to Earth Federation scientists. The Cybuster is powered by a Fulcanelli-type eternal engine, which operates using the pilot's prana (lifeforce) through a Prana Converter. Its armor, made of Orichalconium, provides magical protection due to its unique particle arrangement and geometrical structure. Additionally, the Cybuster is equipped with a Spirit Radar, capable of detecting spirit-like beings, and an Ether Communicator, which functions similarly to standard Earth radars and communicators. The Ether Communicator can even tune into terrestrial radio frequencies without issue.
The Cybuster is mechanically similar to other Masouki, but it is the only known unit governed by the Laplace's demon computer, a mysterious magical computer coveted for its ability to predict the future. Wendy clarified that the computer is based on the theory of Laplace's demon rather than the demon itself. Under extreme conditions, the Laplace's demon computer can interface with the pilot through the Spirit Dependency Link, leading to "full possession," which fuses the elemental blessing with the pilot, granting access to the Akashic Records and control over the Principle of Cause and Effect.
In its second battle against the Granzon in La Gias, Syphis possessed the Cybuster, giving it and its pilot, Masaki, nearly godlike powers, which were used to defeat the Granzon in a single blow. However, this act almost completely drained Masaki of prana, which would have been fatal had he not received a prana transfer from Wendy. In Alpha and Alpha Gaiden, Syphis can perform a lesser form of possession that provides less power but avoids the near-fatal prana drain. In Masoukishin II, Masaki finally learns to communicate with Syphis, enabling him to master possession mode, making the Cybuster one of the most powerful mecha in existence. However, the possession mode only lasts a few minutes before the Cybuster returns to its normal state.
The Cybuster is also capable of transforming into a flight mode known as the Cybird, a bird-like form that enhances its already incredible speed, making it one of the fastest mecha in existence. However, only a select few weapons are available in Cybird mode. The Cybird design is based on the "Deishnas," the holy bird of Langran.
Although not reflected in most games (except the Masou Kishin series), the Cybuster is equipped with a Self-Regeneration System, allowing it to repair itself. It is also the only known Masouki capable of traveling between La Gias and Earth without the need for a portal.
It is revealed in Masoukishin II that the Cybuster was based on the design of the mysterious Zelvoid, an ancient mass-produced mecha used to defeat Volkruss in the past. Cybuster resembles a "good" version of Zelvoid, and some of Zelvoid's weapons are similar to those of Cybuster. The exact relationship between Cybuster and Zelvoid remains unclear, and Wendy does not remember how she created the Cybuster, as she was possessed by the spirit of her evil twin, Tuddy, during that time.
During one of its early appearances on Earth, the Earth Federation mistakenly designated the Cybuster as the AGX-005, believing it to be an Aerogater mech. This was later corrected when it was revealed that the Cybuster was also fighting against the Balmarian Aerogaters.
The Cybuster later assists in battles against the Inspectors, Einst, Shadow Mirrors, and other foes, including the Shura, Duminass, and Dark Brain. After the defeat of Neo Granzon, Masaki returns to La Gias, but the Cybuster reappears to help in the battles against the Guest, Ruina, and Gaia Saviours.
After the Coffin of the End incident, the Cybuster is fitted with an imitation of the Lichrol Converter (installed in the Raveraid) to remain operational, though it requires constant purification of the negative energy to prevent Masaki's prana from being inverted. However, after the destruction of the Crossgate by Touya Shiun and the Granteed Dracodeus, the Cybuster could no longer be recharged.
