Voltron: Legendary Defender

Voltron is a colossal robot formed by the unification of all five Voltron Lions. Created by King Alfor from the Quintessence-infused ore of a Trans-Reality Comet, it embodies a perfect blend of Altean science and mysticism.

After being dormant for ten thousand years, Voltron is reassembled following Shiro's return to Earth, a year after his capture by the Galra Empire. Shiro's arrival sets in motion a chain of events, bringing together Keith, Lance, Hunk, and Pidge. The group discovers the Blue Lion, which leads them to the Castle of Lions on the planet Arus. There, they awaken Princess Allura and Coran, the last living Alteans, who guide them in locating the remaining Lions. Once united, the Paladins form Voltron, reigniting the fight to defend the universe against Zarkon's empire.

By the time of the events in "The End is the Beginning," Voltron becomes permanently deformed due to the Lions being abandoned in space without pilots. This marks a significant turning point, underscoring the critical bond between the Paladins and their Lions in maintaining Voltron's full potential.

The Black Lion, originally piloted by Zarkon, forms the core of Voltron, acting as its head and torso. It is the largest and most significant of the Lions, symbolizing leadership and unity. The Black Lion was hidden within the Castle of Lions on Arus, where it remained dormant alongside Princess Allura and Coran until the new Paladins awakened it.

The first 'new' Black Paladin was Shiro, who bonded with the Lion due to his courage, calm demeanor, and strong leadership qualities. However, following Emperor Zarkon's initial defeat and Shiro's mysterious disappearance, the Black Lion selects Keith as its next Paladin, recognizing his growth as a leader and his potential to guide the team.

The Black Lion's crucial role as the core of Voltron reflects its importance in maintaining the stability and functionality of the giant robot, making its choice of Paladin vital to the success of the team.

The Red Lion, originally piloted by Alfor, serves as the right arm of Voltron. It is a fierce and agile Lion, embodying qualities of bravery and intensity. Initially hidden aboard Sendak's warship, it is discovered and reclaimed by the Paladins.

The new Red Paladin is Keith, who forms a strong bond with the Lion and pilots it during the team's early battles. However, following Emperor Zarkon's initial defeat and Shiro's mysterious disappearance, Keith is chosen by the Black Lion to become its pilot. In turn, the Red Lion selects Lance as its next Paladin, recognizing his growing maturity and ability to embody the traits the Lion values.

This shift highlights the adaptability of the Lions and their ability to choose Paladins based on their evolving qualities, ensuring the continued strength and unity of Voltron.

The Green Lion is the Lion originally piloted by Trigel that forms the left arm of Voltron. It is found hidden in a temple on the Jungle Planet. The new Green Paladin who pilots the Lion is Pidge.

The Blue Lion is the Lion originally piloted by Blaytz that forms the right leg of Voltron. It was the first Lion found, hidden in a desert cave on Earth. The Blue Paladin who piloted the Lion was Lance until Zarkon's initial defeat and Shiro's mysterious disappearance, when the Lion chose Allura as its next Paladin after Lance is chosen by the Red Lion.

The Yellow Lion is the Lion originally piloted by Gyrgan that forms the left leg of Voltron. It is found on a planetoid being mined by the Galra Empire. The new Yellow Paladin who pilots the Lion is Hunk.
