For millennia, the Galra Empire has dominated the universe, obliterating civilizations and enslaving countless races. The only force capable of challenging this tyranny is Voltron, the legendary "Defender of the Universe." Standing at an imposing 328 feet tall, Voltron is a mighty robot warrior formed from five lion-shaped starships, each piloted by a Paladin. To safeguard Voltron from falling into the hands of the malevolent Galra Emperor Zarkon, King Alfor of Altea dismantled Voltron at the conclusion of a devastating war that led to Altea's destruction. He scattered the Lions across the universe, hiding them in distant locations, while entrusting Princess Allura, Coran (Alfor's royal adviser), and the Castle of Lions to planet Arus alongside the Black Lion.
In the present day, the Galra Empire's relentless conquest has brought their search for Voltron to Earth's solar system. A group of space pilots—Shiro, Keith, Lance, Pidge, and Hunk—stumble upon the Blue Lion, an encounter that catapults them into the ongoing Galran War. They discover Princess Allura, assume the roles of the new Paladins, and unite the five Lions to reassemble Voltron. Together, they embark on a mission to liberate the universe from Galra oppression, reigniting hope in the fight against tyranny.
